They look very durable. 10 yr old boys are very tough on these types of things. The elbow and knees use elastic velcro straps. The wrist uses nylon straps. He finds the straps a bit scratchy. These fit my son perfectly around the wrists and knees and I would recommend them for a normal sized 8 yr old even though Eli is 10. I included his personal thoughts in the photo above.
